1001 is a desktop client to be used in conjunction with Flickr, the online photo-sharing website. 1001 not only uploads photos to your Flickr account, it notifies you anytime new photos from either your contacts, everyone, or your favorite tags are uploaded. 1001 allows you to step into the stream of photos passing through Flickr and to quickly see what’s new at the moment. Just run the app in the background and if triggered, 1001 pops up a small unobtrusive window to notify you of new photos.
1001 comes with a Flickr screensaver that will incrementally display the latest image from Flickr. You do not need to have 1001 installed to use this screensaver.

By now you should know Dashboard in Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” is a very nifty way to get a quick glance at a ton of information without the hassle of opening a lot of applications. Well, we love it, too! It’s an easy mouse click or keystroke away when you’re in front of your Mac and need to take a peek. But what about when you turn your attention to something else or walk away for a few? Wouldn’t it be neat if Dashboard popped up by itself after a certain amount of system idle time? It will be pretty neat indeed, right after you download and install Dasher, a preference pane that gets your Dash’ on automatically.

Hallon can create bookmarks in many applications (like iTunes) that usually can’t create bookmarks and they are always accessible from a menu whatever you are doing. You can e.g. bookmark your favorite songs, an email that you have to reply to later that day, some documents that you are working on or the contact information of a friend whom you need to call before the end of the week. And you play the song, open the email, the document or the contact information just by choosing the bookmark in the Hallon menu. You create a bookmark by selecting what you want to bookmark and then press a user-definable hot-key or by choosing “Add…” in the Hallon menu. If you want, you can write notes and set a due date with alarm for each of the bookmarks. Hallon comes with support for Address Book, Finder, iPhoto 4, iTunes, Mail Safari and Terminal but you can yourself add support for many other applications by downloading from the site or creating your own.
Requirements: Mac OS X Panther (10.3) or later

This droplet can be used to add music files directly to the iPod library, without copying them into iTunes Library.

SharePoints is an application or a preference pane that makes it easy to add and delete share points like in the old Finder. In Mac OS X, by default, you are limited to sharing only what is in your public folder in your home directory. This program makes it easy to share any folder.
In addition SharePoints also brings back users and groups management to Mac OS X as well as easy configuration of AppleFileServer (AFS) and Samba (SMB) Server properties.

I wrote this program to use in my lessons, a quiz being shown to a whole class of students using a video projector connected to my Powerbook.
I wanted a simple quiz program which I could use to help reinforce the topics that I was teaching. Other quiz-type programs that I tried were ok, but none fitted my requirements exactly. In particular I wanted the students to have to think quickly and not to ‘buzz in’ without knowing the answer. Buzztastic is configurable so that you can put as much or as little time pressure on your quizees as you like.
Each quiz question is presented for a short period of time. As the seconds count down, the number of points the question is worth reduces accordingly. So, the quicker a team can answer, the more points they can score. Either team may press their answer button at any point whilst the question is shown, but as soon as they have pressed they are only given a few seconds to deliver their answer. If this time runs out, they give the points away. It is this last point that stops the teams pressing their buttons too early!
